God promised to glorify Jesus through the Spirit

When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth . . . He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you . . . Now we have received . . . the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

In Joh 16:13-14 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.

1Co 2:12 “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

As the Spirit fulfills this promise, He especially wants to unfold God’s truth in ways that will glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.” The desire of the Holy Spirit is to bring glory and honor, not to Himself, but to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The promised teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit involves His guiding us into all the truths of the word of God. “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth.”

As the Spirit is fulfilling this promise, He especially wants to unfold God’s truth in ways that will glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”

The desire of the Holy Spirit is to bring glory and honor, not to Himself, but to the Lord Jesus Christ. “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me” (Joh 15:26).

The Spirit has an important role in glorifying Jesus. One way that this is achieved is by revealing to us the abundance of free heavenly riches that we have access to through our relationship with Christ. We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 2:12 that we have received the Spirit from God so that we may fully understand and appreciate the things that have been freely given to us by God himself.

The very essence of God’s grace is captured in this idea of being given something freely, without us having to earn it or deserve it. We are justified by grace alone through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, and this is all to the glory of God’s grace, which is freely bestowed upon us in the Beloved.

It is humbling to think that as sinners, we deserve judgment for our wrongdoing, yet Christ, at the cost of his own life, offers us the free remedy of eternal life. This is a gift that cannot be earned through any effort on our part – it is freely given to us by the grace of God. The Bible reminds us that without Christ, the wages of our sin is death, but through him, we have access to the free gift of eternal life. (Rom 5:15 and Rom 6:23).
